Our PRINCIPALS

JULIE BRYANT - JOUETT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Dear Jouett Families and Friends,

My name is Julie E. Bryant and I am the Principal at Jouett Elementary School.  I have been a part of the Jouett faculty for thirteen years and am blessed and honored to continue to serve the students, families, staff, and community.  I know we are going to continue to lead the way in Louisa County.

I am grateful to have had many wonderful educational experiences that have contributed to my journey and passion for serving the Jouett community.  I acquired my K-12 education in Henrico County in Richmond, Virginia. After graduation, I went to Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia where I grew to have a real appreciation for rural life and the joy of living and working in a close-knit community.  While at Shepherd, I played Collegiate Volleyball and received my Elementary Education degree.  I am a Jouett Trailblazer through and through, as all of my educational experience has been at Jouett. I have served as a Special Educator, Language Arts Teacher, Reading Resource Teacher, and most recently as the Assistant Principal.  In 2018, I received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. In addition to being passionate about education, I am also a wife and mother. My husband, Danny, and I have been blessed with three wonderful children, Kamden, Kenzie, and Kollins.  I am abundantly grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the experiences I have as a member of the Jouett Family.

We are excited as we come together for the upcoming school year.  Jouett’s leadership and staff are proud to provide innovative instruction that helps to enrich and challenge all of our students.  We truly value relationships and we are excited for us to continue to grow our Jouett Family. We will continue to, “Be Legendary,” this school year and I look forward to working with our students, staff, parents, and community.

anita roane - moss-nuckols ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Greetings Fox Families and Friends!

I am Anita R. Roane and this will be my seventh year serving as the proud principal of EpicMNES.  I have been in education for over 30 years.  Throughout those years I have been blessed to have some wonderful opportunities and learning experiences to mold me along the way. Before joining Louisa County Public Schools, I taught kindergarten through fourth grade, was a Math Resource Teacher, and then was an Assistant Principal for two years. I was born in Philadelphia, PA but spent most of my life growing up in King William County, VA. Being in Louisa feels much like being back at home.

I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and my Master of Arts Degree in School Principalship from Central Michigan University.  I am passionate about being an educator and leader and I enjoy attending professional conferences and reading to stay abreast of what is going on in the field of education.

I have one amazing daughter named Taylor who is also a VCU graduate. She is my greatest accomplishment yet! I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends, and I’m very active with my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta.

I love being a member of TeamLCPS.  It is truly a family-oriented and supportive community like no other. This includes our awesome students, our supportive families, our loving and caring staff who execute our exciting and engaging curriculum and programs, our fantastic PTA, and our community partners.

Communication continues to be a key component in this partnership.  Each Sunday during the school year, families will receive a phone call and email from me around 6 PM. This will be another way to stay informed about the school-wide activities coming ahead.  I look forward to collaborating with our families as we engage in this exciting school year. I am only a phone call or email away and can be reached at roanear@lcps.k12.va.us/540-967-1347.  Also, please join our PTA, Facebook page and visit our school website often to stay up to date on school activities.

We are all excited to be continuing our Dens of Determination, our school-wide system modeled after the Ron Clark Academy’s House System used to create a positive climate and culture for our students and staff.  Our Dens of Determination focuses on being givers, friendship, courage, and setting goals. It helps to give the students a sense of pride in a collaborative and safe environment.   Last year Isibindi was the Den Champion.  We look forward to finding out who will be the champion this school year!

At the Home of the Foxes, our students are respected, supported, challenged, and cared for and I look forward to working with them. It’s going to be an EPIC school year!

Jesse cleaver - thomas jefferson ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Greetings TJ Families!

I'm excited to start my 6th year at Thomas Jefferson and my first as Principal.  Before coming to TJ, I taught Mathematics for 12 years at Louisa County High School where I also served as an assistant football coach and in various leadership roles.  I received my B.S. in Mathematics Education from Juniata College and my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from George Mason University.

I'm originally from a small rural town in Pennsylvania but have been a resident of Louisa County for the past 18 years and am proud to call it home.  My wife, Jessica, is a teacher in the county and my 3 kids, Cole, Ava, and Ty are LCPS students with Cole in 7th  grade, Ava in 5th grade, and Ty in 2nd grade.  When I'm not at school you may find me on a local baseball or softball field watching my kids play or coaching.

I look forward to partnering with you to provide our Patriots with a world-class education.  Please don't hesitate to contact me via phone or email (cleavejj@lcps.k12.va.us) if I can be of assistance.

Only Together, We Are TJES!

gary black - trevilians ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Hello Trevilians Families,

I am Mr. Black, and I am proud to be your principal here at TES!  I am entering my 9th year here as principal, and I know that this year is going to be the best one yet!  I look forward to working with all of our students and families throughout the 2023-24 school year.

I am entering my 29th year in education.  After graduating from Grove City College in Pennsylvania, I began my teaching career as a 6th-grade teacher right here at TES!  I then spent the next 11 years as a 6th-grade English and math teacher at LCMS.  While I was there, I earned my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from UVA and my Educational Leadership degree from VCU.  I then left Louisa to begin my career as an administrator, and I have been an assistant principal and principal for the past 16 years.

Besides being an educator, I am the proud father of two girls–Margaret, who just graduated from college, and Caroline, who is pursuing a degree in nursing.  I live in Goochland with my wife, who is a counselor, and our two dogs, Max and Sadie.

When I am not working at TES, I like to exercise, play sports, and watch sports.  If you ever come into my office, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of sports, and some of my favorite teams are the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Georgia Bulldogs!

I look forward to getting to know all of you this year.  If there is anything I can do to help you have a successful year at TES, please let me know!
